License Plate (LP) refers to the label placed on a pallet (or similar container) which conveys multiple units of an item as a "collection". Within NetSuite each individual unit must be accounted for. NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing provides a representation of the LP to manage the collection as a single entity and thereby reduce the transaction details required. The current implementation is designed to: ¥ handle multiple units of the same lot controlled item as a single LP ¥ handle as many as four separate lots of the item (each with its own item count) ¥ support the transfer of an LP between bins ¥ support the picking of an LP for shipping when used in conjunction with our Advanced Ship Notice capabilities ¥ optional validation of LP numbers to avoid duplicates All LP transactions can be accomplished through either NetSuite forms or via the Advanced Manufacturing mobile interface (scanner & tablet support). In addition, the bundle provides special views to facilitate easy creation of an empty pallet and "repacking" of pallets. Generally, the production of License Plate Numbers (LPN) is accomplished by a production labelling system that establishes the number and can also print a barcode label in real time as pallets are assembled. NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing is capable of producing an individual label (as a PDF for printing) after creation of the LP record however this is generally reserved for reprints unless the initial creation will coincide with production and replace scanning for this step.
