- Rough-Cut Capacity Planning allows users to compare projected load (demand) against resource availability (supply) based on several criteria. Demand is aggregated and expressed at the Work Center level while resource availability is evaluated for both equipment and labor.

With Advanced Manufacturing Rough-Cut Capacity Plan application, a Planner can generate 'What If' scenarios to evaluate demand and supply based on the criteria outlined below:

Demand can be sourced from either Work Orders, Sales Orders or an existing Demand Plan

Supply is sourced from NetSuite Work Center settings

Both Supply and Demand parameters may be adjusted on a week-by-week basis

Planning Horizon is a user defined period by selecting the appropriate calendar dates

Weekly Time Fence

The Advanced Manufacturing Rough-Cut Capacity Plan application will interrogate the appropriate records, aggregate the Demand and Supply based on the criteria selected above and provide a summarized view of the data at the work center level. The user has the ability to edit these results for 'what if' purposes to evaluate the impact on resource capacity utilization. Note: changes made to the 'retrieved' data will not override the source data in NetSuite.

Various Capacity Plan reports can be generated to evaluate capacity utilization of individual work centers and labor resources making it easy to identify 'over or under' capacity utilization conditions. The Planner can use this insight to make adjustments to the Demand and Supply to optimize resource utilization prior to finalizing the master production schedule.

Work Center definition within the Advanced Manufacturing configuration will greatly influence this planning activity. Where visibility into labor demands is required it will be necessary to set up work centers that represent those operations with planning parameters that are reflective of the available labor.
